Portunia Assistance privacy policy
In short: Portunia Assistance sends your screen only when you accept, only to the person you chose, and end-to-end encrypted: the server that connects you cannot see it. Jupi Studio receives no data from the app. No account, no ads, no analytics.
What the app stores
Only the address of the last assistance server you entered (for example acces.exemple.fr), saved on your device so you do not have to type it again. It is not backed up to the cloud. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes it. The app keeps no history of sessions, codes or images.
What the app sends, and to whom
- To the assistance server whose address you entered (wss://<address>/assistance/relais, over an encrypted TLS connection): a connection request when you tap "Get a code". This server is run by the person or organisation helping you, not by Jupi Studio. Like any server, it sees your IP address and the time of the connection; it gives a 3-digit "place" that is part of your code and passes the encrypted messages between you and the helper. Its retention of connection logs is governed by its operator's own policy.
- To the person helping you, and only after you accept: images of your screen, at most ten per second, scaled down to 1280 pixels, for as long as the sharing lasts. They are end-to-end encrypted (keys agreed with the 9-digit code using SPAKE2, then ChaCha20-Poly1305): the server cannot read them, and they are not stored by the app. Anything visible on your screen during the session (messages, notifications, passwords you type) can be seen by the helper, so only share with someone you trust.
- The last 6 digits of your code are never sent to the server.
What the app does not do
- No account, no sign-in, no name or email requested.
- No remote control: the helper can only look; their mouse and keyboard are ignored.
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDK, no advertising ID.
- No location, camera, microphone, contacts or files. No audio is captured.
- Nothing is sent to Jupi Studio.
Permissions
- Internet: to connect to the assistance server you entered and exchange the encrypted session with the person helping you.
- Foreground service and foreground service for screen capture (media projection): required by Android to share the screen while you use other apps. Android asks you to confirm each sharing, and a notification stays visible with a Stop button until it ends.
- Notifications (Android 13 and later, optional): to show that ongoing-sharing notification and its Stop button. Nothing else is notified.
Your choices
You can decline any request, stop sharing at any time from the app, the notification or Android's screen-sharing chip, and delete the saved server address by clearing the app's data. As Jupi Studio holds no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete; for connection logs on an assistance server, contact its operator.
Children
The app is intended for adults and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If a future version handles data differently (for example remote control or file transfer), this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date above will change.
